Signs of teething information
The diagnosis of teething is made based on the presence of the characteristic signs and symptoms. Many parents use other teething remedies, such as gels you put on a baby’s gums. Many experts question if these work and are safe. If you want to try these products, talk to your doctor about which types are safe and how often to use them.
Experts disagree about whether teething actually causes signs of teething — like fussiness, diarrhea, and fever — or whether these common symptoms are not related to teething at all and just coincidentally appear at the same time as emerging teeth.
A relatively rare condition, “natal” teeth, describes the presence of a tooth on the day of birth. The incidence of such an event is one per 2,000-3,000 live births.
