Signs of concussion and the loss of consciousness

While dramatic, loss of consciousness or seizure are not common in concussion and do not predict severity. The presence of a fracture does not, alone, increase the likelihood of an injury to the brain unless there are also other signs of concussion. The most common and least serious type of traumatic brain injury is called a concussion. If symptoms do not go away or are not improving a lot after 2 or 3 weeks, talk to your doctor.
Confusion, amnesia (short term or long term), slurred speech, issues with memory or concentration, drowsiness and loss of consciousness are all common cognitive symptoms. Most cases of concussion occur in children and teenagers aged five to 14, with the two most common causes being sporting and cycling accidents.
